Here we go again at the Pantomime season. What a good script, this pantomime had all the right ingredients and fun that a family panto should have. There were lots of good characters and plenty of enthusiastic children to keep the audience singing and joining in and what a strong line up of principles.
In the title role of Cinderella, Phoebe Higham excelled, she suited the part well, she looked lovely and what a delightful voice, her singing of ‘On My Own’, was just beautiful. Chris Metcalf as the ever faithful Buttons made an instant rapport with the audience, he was funny and also a very loveable guy. Steve Dobson and Joseph Clark as the Ugly Sisters, Grizelda Hardup and Mona Hardup were in fine form. They worked well together and their comic timing was excellent, plus lots of audience reactions and participation, they really got us all engaged. Colin Taylor was just right as the Baron and earned the sympathy vote for enduring the tirades from his harridan of a wife, the Baroness played with obvious relish by Louise Topping. Both Lucy Stewart and Lou Wareing did full justice to their roles as Prince Charming and Dandini. What a good Fairy Godmother Lisa Higham made, she ensured a happy ending, good prevailed over evil. All other cast members added to the overall success of the pantomime backed by a tuneful chorus and some nice choreography. Also there was a good choice of musical numbers, we all enjoyed the sing along. As always great sets and props, well done to everyone including back stage and front of house and not forgetting the small band. This was a very good evening’s entertainment enhanced by superb costumes. Merry Christmas everyone and thank you.
