This pantomime was a very enjoyable production from the Millom society. It had all the elements one would expect from a traditional panto, knock about scenes, slapstick, and audience participation, including me, in abundance.

The cast was made up of experienced players and lots of very young performers, and a good all round balance was created.

There were some very pleasing performances, particularly from Abby Hardwick and Natasha Caldwell, who made a very formidable gruesome twosome as, Ugly Sisters Gorgon and Zola. William France, as Buttons engaged very well with the young enthusiastic audience, as he told us of his unrequited love for Cinders, he also had a fine singing voice. Cinders was well played by Saffron Hine, and her scenes with Prince Charming, played by Eleanor Baines were well sang and acted. Special mention must go to two very important people, firstly to Barry Vernon, the Society Chairman who stood in at Dress Rehearsal to play Baron Hardup and a good job he made of it ,  without a script as well, no mean feat. Jessie Conway was the producer, choreographer and also played The Fairy Godmother, her contribution to the production was immense.

Costumes, scenery, lighting and sound all worked very well but I must admit I’m not a great fan of pre recorded music and songs but it worked well for the production.

All in all a very good pantomime from the Millom Society, I look forward to seeing future productions with the society.
