Cinderella, the well known story of love overcoming all obstacles, combined with the pathos of a love struck Buttons and the bullying of the two ugly sisters give us the plot of a very popular pantomime. The Society tackled this with flair and enthusiasm keeping a full house entertained throughout.
Beki Elcock and Alison Knox as Cinderella and Prince Charming were delightful and in such a contrast to the excellent portrayal of the Ugly Sisters by Vince Empsall and Eric Arundell who had the audience alternating between laughter and hostility.
Connor Lovell as the unlucky and unfortunate Buttons worked hard all night and showed much talent in his role defending Cinderella at all times, opposing the “baddies” and creating a very good rapport with the audience.
Anyone seeing the show will now be aware of Bodgett and Legget, a true pair of cowboy builders. Small cameo roles but well executed.
A bumbling Baron, a scheming Baroness and a truly enchanting Fairy Godmother coupled with good support from Dandini all combined to produce a memorable production.
Choreography was kept simple and effective, whilst the lighting and scenery were of a high standard.
It was obvious from the start that all members of the cast were enjoying themselves as their enthusiasm came across the footlights to a very appreciative audience.
All in all a good evening’s entertainment.
