It was clear from the moment when Fairy Godmother, Pauline Hardie stepped onto stage and the musicians began to play, that we were to be treated to another well produced and enjoyable Pantomime from this talented and well established society. The script, written by Leo Appleton and Rob Fearn, two acting members of the company, was excellent and was traditional with witty and up to date material and word play which appealed  to all age groups. The musical numbers were a mixture of timeless classics and modern material, with splendid singing and interpretation by all the cast. Amy Pemberton was responsible for some lovely choreography, even the mice puppets in the tower were excellent movers and at times upstaged others on stage. Costumes were outstanding and the fabrics and colours were enhanced by good lighting. Scenery was again just right, colourful and well constructed. There were some great performances from the various characters on stage. Pauline Hardie as Fairy Godmother looked lovely, her diction and delivery of lines showed her obvious experience. Lucy Court- Stocks made a splendid Cinderella impressing with her vocals. Leo Appleton and Phil Thomas as the Ugly Sisters combined well in the traditional Dame roles and Skye Roman as Cinderella’s cat was outstanding with her lovely feline movements. She was completely immersed in the role, never out of character as she moved around the other performers. A little gem of a performance! The musicians were an integral part of this show, so important in creating the right atmosphere for Pantomime. Anne Bouget, Director, has blended all the necessary traditional ingredients well and judging from the audience reaction Our Lady Star of the Sea have another success on their hands. Congratulations to all involved.
