I like to see these village pantomimes and these folk always put on some good entertainment. The story was slightly different with the Fairy Godmother owning the local pub, and whipping her costume on and off at appropriate moments when she turned into the fairy. Prince Charming arrived straight off the rugby pitch with striped jumper and black shorts, although Dandini dressed traditionally. Both these girls did very well, Sarah France and Rachel Spitzer.. A new character was introduced as the villain taxman and Bryony Allen was suitably evil. Cinderella, Lottie Hicks fitted the part well and Buttons, Garth Cross was as he should be, a funny lovable guy. I like the way this societry uses the auditorium, the cast appear in all directions, which brings in the audience. The spotlighters do a good job following them around. The two characters who used to be called the Brokers Men did very well in league with the taxman. There was a good bunch of youngsters playing villagers and not so young ones too.The set as usual for this Society was excellent, well done to them. The production is not auditioned and anyone can join which is good encouragement for some who may otherwise be put off, but perhaps there should be more care given to the chorus during the action especially the children. The panto was well costumed and well done to the pair in dear old Dobbin the horse, they must have been very hot (despite the freezing weather outside). Well done to Ian Flowers on piano and Joy Smart on the drums.
