Powick Players – Cinderella 2 - The Sisters Strike Back

Written by Andrew Yates the story is in essence a follow up after Cinderella married her Prince in spite of her ugly sister’s unsuccessful attempts to destroy the marriage. I have often wondered what happened to the Ugly Sisters after Cinderella married her Prince, well now I know. Her sisters Nausea and Asphyxia Rockbottom continued their wicked ways with the help of their step mother Lady Rock Bottom. Of course Wanda the Witch of the Woods and her companion Toadstool, were enrolled in  their wicked plans to destroy the marriage. This version of the pantomime was performed in Powick Village Hall on a small stage with a named cast of nineteen and four chorus plus four delightful small Mushrooms. Every principal role was played with aplomb and the interaction between the players and the audience was as funny as the script (and more personal) much to the delight of the wider audience. Of course it all ended perfectly with Nausea and Asphyxia settling down with Will and Ned and everyone else joined together to live happily ever after. So now I know what happened to the Ugly Sisters. The whole performance was a delight and the packed house was treated to Pantomime at its best. Backstage crew deserve applause as well as the players with costumes, lighting music, scenery which were all excellent.
