Halstead Players please do not worry about being a bit wobbly in advance. You were fine to me. Such a small hall and stage width, but when those tabs opened I was very surprised to see the depth of it. Your sets were very nice for me, non-cluttered and simple, that’s just what a panto needs. Well done.
Directed nicely, not to many dance routines and big chorus numbers. I liked the cameraderie of the whole cast. Nice to see so many young people up there doing their very best. Do you know I usually single out people in their various parts, but on this occasion you were all so happy with what you did, in your various parts, that I feel it would be unfair. Also I don’t want to leave anyone out. Yes your scene changes were long, but with such a small stage this sometimes happens and, believe me, they got quicker as the show progressed.
This Cinderella was directed with love and I could see you were getting into your parts - who cares about missed lines or hiccups. I know it feels like minutes but this makes it all the more funny. Halstead Players, you had a good Dame, excellent Ugly Sisters a very nice Cinders and Prince, who kept us entertained along with all the other supporting players, including sqeeky mice. I must mention Buttons: a stunning performance, very engaging with her audience. Well done to all up there on stage.
Costumes were colourful and lighting was spot on. Sounds were there and a good array of them - sometimes not on cue but who cares, this is a difficult job! Well done to all your technical staff.
I don’t know if this is a first attempt at panto (I may be wrong) but even so you have no worries, this Cinderella was solid in many ways and I really enjoyed my evening I hope to get asked again sometime. Well done to all involved you did yourselves proud and Halstead should be very proud: you gave them a chance to go to the theatre in your village. Keep this up and congratulations to all involved. Well done.
