The ever-popular Cinderella was my final show visit for 2024. Accompanied by my daughters for a Saturday afternoon treat, we travelled to Barry to watch Billboard’s festive offering.
In the title role of Cinderella, Leona Hobbs gave a great performance. She had great vocals in the musical numbers and she had a lovely character and moved well.
Ceri Goodwin was lovely as The Fairy Godmother. She had very strong vocals and kept the production ticking along with an almost ‘narrator-like’ performance.
The talented Rhiannon Rose-Goodsir brought out her bad side as Cinderella’s wicked step-mother, Baroness Hardup. Her character was very good and as always, she had great stage presence.
Rhiannon was joined by the traditional ‘ugly sisters’, Rita and Wanda, played by Michael Bennett and Rhys Deans. They were exactly what you wanted from their very well-known characters: larger than life, naughty and full of bad jokes! Well played.
Robyn Mullooly was great at Bruno the dog. She didn’t break character once!
The roles of Prince Charming and Dandini were played by Amy Coulson and Alex Woodfield. They worked well together and gave good performances.
Pantomime hero, Buttons, was played by Noah Richards-Taylor. He was brilliant in this production, showing excellent character and comic timing. A star in the making. Well done!
The large ensemble cast were all energetic and gave great performances. They had excellent vocals and performed the choreography well.
From a technical perspective, the set worked well and the lighting was particularly effective.
Costumes were colourful and appropriate for the production.
We all had a super time watching this production. Thank you Billboard. See you in 2025!
