For my first panto of the season, I made the long trip to Eyemouth and all I can is it was worth it.
From the warm welcome when I walked through the door to the final curtain call this was a true community production where it was clear everyone was working hard to make the sell-out show a success. Despite the limited resources available in the venue the production team were keen to continue raising the standards and the investment in new scenery, as a result of a generous donation, certainly helped with that.
In his first show as Producer Ruairidh ensured the pace of the show never dropped and that every possible comedy moment landed giving the audience a bright and lively production. Andrea made sure principals and chorus alike delivered great vocals with an appropriate selection of songs
The cast this year was a mix of familiar faces as well as many making their panto debut helping to ensure the future success of the club.
Every single principal delivered a strong performance with no weak links. Dialogue was clearly delivered and characters well developed – well done. Kayla brought sparkle to the role of Fairy G as she ensured there was a happy ending. Grace as Cinderella and Eloise as Price Charming made the perfect couple. Sophie as Buttons kept the audience going with some great interactions whilst Emily was a protective Dandini. As the Baroness Holly had just the right amount of bady whilst Stuart was a suitably downtrodden Baron. A special well done to Evie and Cassie as Hagan the Horse.
Comedy came in various forms. As Bodget and Leggett, Katie and Lily worked well together as the incompetent handymen whilst Ebony and Anna brought sass as Kaz and Shaz. As the ugly sisters Andrew as Grizelda and Kenny as Gertrude were fabulous with a repertoire of, at times dreadful but hilarious, one liners and put down
The dancers were well drilled and brought some extra sparkle to the production whilst the chorus added the icing on the cake.
Congratulations to all involved with the club for a great start to panto season.
