The start of December and my first Panto in 2023. What a treat! This company gave us a great evening with laughs, songs and engagement. The power of Panto was alive and kicking.
The cast all carried off their roles with style and energy. The heroine (Sarah Matheson) was smart and sassy and her sweet voice complimented her character. Her love interest the Prince (Emma Brand) was perfectly cast and brought distinction to the role. She was ably assisted by Dandini (Kirsty Denoon) who managed to survive the attentions of the ugly sisters. The Fairy Godmother (Teresa Warden) impressed us all by her memory for the large amount of rhyme she could repeat with ease.
The comedy was in good hands. The outrageous ugly sisters (Brian Mathieson and Ross Robertson) had everyone in stiches from the start. Their engagement with the audience was enhanced by a charming Buttons (Harrison Cairney) and an impressive Baron (Ali Niven). The 12 days of Christmas number was outstanding. Last but not least we have the baroness (Kerry Guthrie) what a stinker just as a baddie should be. Well done! Also well done to the chamberlains (Leah Murray and Leigha Hawke) you were spot on with words and clarity.
The whole production was slick and seamless. Everyone carried on despite mic issues and a wee incident at the start. Congratulations to all involved your hard work shone through and made the trip to Brechin on a cold frosty evening memorable. Thank you.
