Described as the “genuine Market Drayton pantomime since 1996” this was an evening full of fun and laughter for the whole family to enjoy.

This script (written by Ben Crocker) works particularly well for both children and accompanying adults, allowing everyone to fall about laughing at the same time but for very different reasons.

Sharon Wright (Director/Choreographer), Vicky Baldwin (Choreographer) and Lynda Gough (Choreographer & Fairy Godmother) should be extremely proud of the entire cast in bringing a well-polished performance to the stage, even to the point that everyone was foot perfect for the opening number.

Music under the direction of Matt Baker (Musical Director) and Martin Bickley (Sound) need to be specifically mentioned, a great assortment of songs and styles, clear diction and every word being crystal clear to the audience.  I particularly liked  “A dream is a wish your heart makes” sung to perfection by Grace Murray (Cinderella) which was a very touching moment in the show. There was a nice blend of harmonies during the duets between Cinderella & her Prince Charming (Kathryn George) that were also as enjoyable.

Jon Edwards (Beryl) and Richard Greenwood (Cheryl) are certainly the triple-threat ugly sisters, not only are they great comedic actors but they sing and they can dance. Dan Cummings (Buttons) is equally as talented and the combination of all three during a very wordy scene with a map showed just how well the three of them worked well together.

Josh Jones (Dandini), Lorraine Jones (Baroness), Archie Burch (Mouse), Elwood Glover (Major Domo) and Otis Glover (Security Guard) along with the rest of the company made this a complete ensemble.

A dazzling array of costumes for every scene, plenty of slapstick, pathos and some surprises along the way leave me to think that Market Drayton Amdrams (MDAODS) certainly know how to put on a pantomime.

These performances were dedicated to the memory of Dennis Furnival, a larger than life character who will be so very much missed.
