Cinderella

Attending this play for children (which is how Codsall define their Christmas production) was a real family adventure for me. In addition to my 10 year old great grandson – a seasoned theatregoer – we were accompanied by my 4.1/2 year old twin great grandsons. They booed with delight. They accepted the characters as part of the well known story. We all loved King Regal (John Bingham), Queen Bouncy (Anita Yates), Prince Julian (Matt Birch), Dandini (Ray Manning), Cinderella (Laura Wilkes) and the Fairy Godmother (CDS Secretary Brigid O’Connor.) Wicked Stepmother Sammi Rhead, Ugly sisters, Repulsia (Kelsey Dornan) and Nausiana (Ann Escritt) really earned all the boos they got from this full house audience of Mums, Dads, Grandparents and children

Set in the round the lighting and sound (Paul Davies & Dan Harper) was good, pretty costumes, lots of props and Stage Manager (Rachael Goodson) had a good team backstage. Everyone in the full house audience sang “Baby Shark” with gusto. In fact the boys sang it all the way home.

Once again Codsall D S turned up trumps with their Christmas offering and now they have at least two more devoted fans who have made me promise to take them next year.
