I always enjoy visiting Theatre Group productions, being a founder member, and having taken part in many of their past shows.

This was a very good pantomime from the group and all the principals were well cast .Jasmin Smith was a charming and very convincing Cinderella .She sang her solo beautifully, and I would like to have heard more of her singing. Michael Quinn and Stuart Evans were convincing ‘uglies’, and they kept the audience going all through the show. Director Shaun Donald played an excellent Buttons, and his rapport with the young watchers is second to none. Megan Smith as Fairy Godmother, set the scene very well, and also sang very well. Aron Armstrong was a good, under the thumb Baron Hardup, and Jayne Vincent played the wicked stepmother very well, as did Harry Douglas Brown and Jodie Morgan playing Prince Charming and Dandini respectively

I thought the transformation scene was spectacular, and the coach , to take Cinders to the Ball was brilliant, well done to the designer and builder.

I would have preferred the show to be opened with, in both acts  a chorus song and dance number, rather than a dance. I believe it gets the audience on side from the off.

The backcloths were very good and they were wiped very quickly by the crew. Costumes and makeup were excellent, but I would have liked Jayne’s makeup to be more evil looking, she looked too nice!!. Sound and lighting was good, and the show was very slick, but I did feel it was rather long. All in all a very good production from the group, and the little negative comments are only a personal opinion, and are no reflection on the overall performance.
