Starburst, the Youth Section of Stars, had most of the leading roles in their Cinderella and they really worked very hard with great enjoyment and panache. Cinderella (Katy Chalmers) was an endearing Cinders with Ellie Chalmers a swash buckling Prince Charming and Clara Stevens.a suave Dandini. The Fairy Godmother (Sarah Gate) had the children immediately on her side. The double act of Tick (Leo Mercer) & Tock (Connor Gonzalez) had good comic timing and concentration from such a young pair. Grease Lightning, the horse that took Cinders to the ball, was wellhandled by Niamh Murphy and Katie Pratt. 4 cameo roles were well played by Rosie (Jodie Richardson), Whitney (Caitlin Riley), Britney (Eva DeLuca) and The Master of Ceremonies (Joseph Hopkinson). The rest of the cast were seasoned actors thoroughly enjoying themselves. The Ugly Sisters (Chris Binns & Garry Darbey) had a ball and looked ........ ugly. David Collins as Buttons had the children in the audience in the palm of his hand. George Saville had a hard time with his daughters and the Bad Fairy (Rowena Clayton) received all the necessary boos. The villagers (Priya Banger, Shannon Riley, Mayo Rogers and Niamh Stevens) sang and danced very well and what script the had was hanled with ease. The set was simple but worked very efficiently with a very good transformation scene done in UVL which the children loved. The singing and dancing was appropriate to the ages of the cast and came across the footlights with good projection and sweetness. The whole was a very good afternoon's entertainment.
