Christmas Concert
13/12/23
Christmas music may have been playing in your supermarket since September, but on the Wirral the season has to begin with a choir and carols.
It’s a cold wintery night. Christmas is coming. What could be better than a celebratory Christmas Concert? Congratulations to Theatre 4 All and Heswall Musical Theatre on their first joint venture, the concert was a huge success. The beautifully seasonally decorated methodist church in Heswall Wirral was the venue for this eagerly awaited event. Full to capacity the gathering of grandparents, mums & dad’s, sisters, brothers, friends and extended family, what an amazing atmosphere.
The opening carol ‘Hark the Herald’ sung by the full cast included both societies, Theatre 4 All and Heswall Musical Theatre, rang out, we knew we were in for a special evening. The Master of Ceremonies Stuart Thompson introducing each performance throughout the evening, praise to Stuart for his handling of the mini kids, quite an achievement. An evening of two acts of both traditional and modern carols and seasonal songs. With so many great performances it is impossible to mention individuals so I will not try, just to mention what was the highlights for me. The Little Drummer boy/Peace on Earth - Lesley and Collette. Little Donkey, the mini kids: Amber Fellowes (3yrs), Morgan Bamford (4yrs) and Orlando Collings (3yrs) with Charlotte, Abby and Ruby (T4A).
After an interval cup of coffee and what was possibly the most delicious mince pie ever, Act Two began with a Christmas favourite ‘Winter Wonderland’ delivered beautifully by the full cast. Once again, the act two highlights for me: ‘Do you hear what I hear’ Sophie Fellowes (T4A and HMT) ‘O Holy Night,’ Anne Williams (HMT). A special mention for this remarkable performance from Anne Williams, it was truly memorable.
There is only one area left to mention, the very talented band. Congratulations to Musical Director Nikki Rusco, Hayley Bamford - Woodwind (sax and flute) Steve Rooney - Bass Guitar and Chris Legerton Drums.
Thank you all so very much for a wonderful entertaining evening, it began the Christmas celebrations for me. I am looking forward to the next collaborative event.
