This society perform a one nighter at Christmas and share the stage with Diggle School Choir, a local primary school. This event was this year in aid of the charity Parkinson’s UK and was compered by Mirriam Lawton who juggled her different books beautifully seeing as she was also in the choir.

The programme was varied as always with some songs by the school, some by the choir and some well known Christmas carols where the audience join in.

The Orchestra around 30 piece sounded absolutely fabulous under Harry’s baton and three of the numbers were solely Orchestra pieces by Strauss and Suppe which were stunning.

The children from Diggle choir behaved and sang beautifully starting with Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Sparkle and Shine from the film Nativity (which I love), Soualle/Away in a Manger which was beautiful and ended with Love Shone Down. Well done Hilary Rea on those wonderful numbers.

The choir and the harmonies created were absolutely stunning and I’d be hard pushed to pick a favourite. But I loved Hallelujah Chorus, O Holy Night and Carol of the Children.

It is always lovely to stand and join in with such beautiful carols starting with O Come All Ye Faithful and ending with Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. This was a wonderful way to start the festive season with coffee and mince pies at the end.
