The society perform a one nighter at Christmas and in the spring and share the stage with Diggle School Choir, a local primary school. This event is always well attended and was in aid of the charity Shelter Box.
The show was compered by Gordon Russell who told jokes and stories about the music being played. The programme was varied with some songs by the school, some by the choir and some well known Christmas carols where the audience also sang.
The Orchestra around 30 piece sounded fabulous under Harry’s baton and three of the numbers were solely Orchestra pieces by Delibes, Strauss and Bizet.
The children from Diggle choir performed beautifully and sounded wonderful on their numbers,
The adult choir sounded beautiful with full rounded harmonies and depth of voices.
From the opening number of “O Come, All Ye Faithful” to the final “We Wish You a Merry Christmas” this was the perfect way to begin Christmas.
