This was the first time I have had the pleasure of attending a production by this group as I was covering for my colleague but I am sure it won’t be the last! The quality of singing throughout the varied programme was absolutely superb.
The audience we treated to a mix of the most traditional of carols alongside some lesser known pieces and readings, it was such a festive way to start the last weekend of Advent. The first act opened with everyone being invited to sing "Once in Royal David's City" which included a perfect solo in the opening verse. Many of the pieces were sung a cappella and one of the highlights of the first act for me was "Gaudete", just beautiful. The group had wonderful accompaniment on piano and also on the church organ from Colin Wood. At the end of the first act the choir performed “And the glory of the Lord” from the Messiah, just superb. The second act gave us more beautiful musical performances my personal favourites being “Star Carol”, “White Christmas” and a beautiful arrangement of “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas” .
Thank you to everyone concerned for an absolutely first class concert which was a perfect addition to the festive season and just what was needed in these uncertain times. Congratulations to all.
