The choir looked resplendent when they took to the stage in their very austere black with the little touches of jaunty red. They gave us a lovely solid, confident performance throughout ably led by Peter Wakefield. It was a nice touch to ask the audience to join in ( and we did with gusto) with some of the carols. Another nice touch was having the Diggle School Choir there performing their three numbers.

The five piece band all worked well together and provided a beautiful musical back drop for the choir to perform against, the sound was great - not too loud . The music choices were a good collection which complimented each other and allowed each different vocal section to show off a little with their individual vocal acrobatics. The harmonies/descents could be clearly heard gelling together with no one section overshadowing another. I particularly enjoyed the Carol of The Bells and of course the Hallelujah Chorus.

All in all a lovely way to welcome the beginning of Christmas - certainly I came away feeling ready to get my Christmas on. Thank you Saddleworth Musical Society for inviting me. I look forward to seeing you all again very soon.
