This was a fine production from WADAMS Youth Group. I have to be honest , this is not my favourite show, having seen it twice before professionally, but these young people made an excellent job of this musical.
The show moved along at a good pace and all the main cat characters were well cast. I particularly enjoyed Ben Hall as the Rum Tum Tugger, his cat like demeanour never wavered for a minute and his singing was very effective. I also enjoyed Joshua Pattison, who played the duel roles of Bustopher Jones and Gus the Theatre Cat. All the other cat characters were well played and Maddie Edgar as Grizabella sang beautifully.
The choreography was well performed and there were some very ambitious dances, well done to all concerned. The set, which was a junk yard looked very good but Im not sure it was used to its full potential.
The music was well led by Bob Daglish, but I believe some of the music had been pre recorded, The young company certainly rose to the occasion.
Technically, costumes suited the characters, lighting and sound were very good and generally the Society should be very proud of these young people.
As always the hospitality was exemplary with this society. My wife and I enjoyed a very very pleasant evening.
