CHAOS is the only society I know that begins its evening with the National Anthem and this alone brings back the times when the world was less frantic and going to the theatre was a really special treat. The production team need have no fear that they will walk alone. For this show the company were well and truly united.

Something really different for the opening. No carousel to be seen. Then the Ring Master appeared, and the actors  as performers at a circus, set the scene long before the carousel arrived on stage. It was quite impressive when it arrived from above the stage. So too was the fire alarm which sounded in the theatre! The audience gathered their belongings and we all trouped outside in the rain while the problem was sorted.  No fire just a fault in the alarm system. Back into the theatre we came.

The show picked up immediately at the point where we left and ten out of ten for everyone involved, not a beat was missed or a word forgotten. This was evidence of a well trained company who were secure in their show.

Richard Probert (Billy Bigelow) and Emma Newton (Julie Jordan) were in fine voice and their duets were a joy with their voices blending well together. Good support for them from Beth Siviter-Coupland (Carrie Pipperidgre) and J. Paul Murdoch (Mr Snow). Kay Woodhouse (Nettie Fowler) gave a moving rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone"

Simon Wilkinson, MD, had worked hard with the chorus and as always the singing showed the company at its best. The choreography by Donna Jones was within the scope of the performers and the stage was full of activity.

.It was an evening of nostalgia with a show that can be watched again and again. This was CHAOS at its best. I shall be interested in next year's production of "Nine to Five" which is, of course, a totally diffrent kind of show.
