With four top-line principals, Colin Harris's beautifully-staged production was always guaranteed to be a success.
I know he's an "old hand" at Billy Bigelow, but Andrew Bailey gave a confident and assured performance and a quite brilliant 'Soliloquy.' It's a pity we don't see more of you on the Huddersfield stage Andrew!
Holly Comber-Moccia, as Julie Jordan, was an excellent foil for 'Billy' singing emotively as always, while Zoe Clarkson excelled as Carrie, playing out every facial nuance to perfection and extracting every drop out of the comedy.
Richard Armstrong was equally at home in the role of her annoyingly righteous suitor Enoch Snow. Good support came from Becky Sutcliffe as the matriarchal Nettie Fowler.
A confident principal debut came from Lucy Crossley as Louise, who shone in the Ballet with James Buckley, nicely choreographed by Lynn Clarkson.
The ladies chorus made a solid contribution, what a pity there were not more men in the stirring Blow High, but then most societies seem to be in the same boat (pardon the pun).
Nice to see proper scenery, although the hard-working stage crew would probably have appreciated an easier ride.
Well done to everyone involved.
