Stephen Duckham’s production was fast moving from start to finish. Instead of the normal overture with the curtain closed, the audience were treated to an opening montage of a fairground with a carousel and various stalls. With this in mind the audience knew that they were in for a treat. James Gordanifar and Abigail Wells gave outstanding performances as Billy and Julie. With good support from Michelle Worthington as Mrs. Mullins and Patrick Pryce as Jigger. Marie Donnellan as Carrie came over really well and the audience all enjoyed the comedy of Chris Psaras as Mr. Snow. Sally Joliffe was not only the choreographer for the production but also played Nettie Fowler and what a fine voice she had. Each scene in the production was well rehearsed so that it flowed well. You could hear every word sung over the orchestra. Costumes looked good and the lighting matched the mood of the show. Scenery was good and it was nice to see a moving carousel on stage. On the evening I went there were a couple of glitches with the sound but this did not bother the audience one bit. The chorus really worked well with the principals and there was not a dry eye in the house with their rendition of ‘You Never Walk Alone’. Well-done BMOS
