Despite having to move the show at the last minute from the Byre Theatre to St Andrews Town Hall, it all went remarkably well and the company notched up another very successful production. Working in St Andrews, I’ve lost count of the number of people who told me how much they had enjoyed the production. The calibre of the principals was a major factor. Thomas Hughes made a fine Billy Bigelow. He captured the mood of the character very effectively. Julia Campbell was equally believable as Julie. Both voices were well matched.  Alyson was very engaging as Carrie playing against a youthful David Jackson as Mr Snow. Roy Verner succeeded in creating a Jigger with just the right amount of menace. Katrina Bradley gave us everything we expect from Nettie, with just the right characterisation. Other principal roles were all well played. It was very nostalgic being back in the Town Hall, but the staging worked well and the chorus gave excellent support. Musically the show was outstanding – principals, chorus and orchestra. It was good to see so many local people coming out to support the company, in what could be seen as their hour of need.
