CONCERT  RECIPE

Ingredients -

25  singers with varying years of experience.

63  songs from the world of musicals and Old Tyme Music Hall.

2    sections by a visiting Choir.

Put all of the above in a pot and season with input from Musical Director, Kate Doig and Artistic Director, Ruth Anderson.  Bake for a few weeks and out comes an end product which is worthy of any theatre stage.

CAMS annual Concert offered their audience a veritable pot pourri of the well-known and also the sadly-infrequently-performed hits from musicals past and present – all in the first of four sections.

The second section  “Fifty Shades of ……… Colour” comprised – as the title suggests -  a collection of songs with a colour in the title, varying from musicals to film …… via the Beatles!  This Society is extremely lucky to have a membership which allows for twenty five of them to undertake solo and concerted items with such extraordinary confidence.

A third section enthused the audience with a compered selection of songs from the Music hall era, while the last part of the programme returned to the world of musicals.

The visiting Friends of St Columba’s Choir made for an interesting change of mood in each half of the Concert, and also added the weight of their 48 voices to CAMS chorus for the rousing Finale – “One Day More” from Les Miserables.

Congratulations to all CAMS singers and production team for another sit-back-and-enjoy Summer Concert, and many thanks for allowing me to present eight Long Service Awards after the show.
