Featuring a cast of nineteen, CAMS provided an evening of entertainment of sterling quality. The programme included forty-one numbers dating from HMS Pinafore by Gilbert & Sullivan (incidentally, CAMS first show back in 1896 when the composer and lyricist were still alive!) right up to the present day West-end musicals. The standard of singing and presentation was, at all times, of the highest quality, and the thoughtful changes of costume at different parts of the programme added to the colour and variety of the evening.
The second half of the evening opened with an incidental one act comedy play with music - “Forte Towers” - written and directed by two members of CAMS, Jude Vandecasteele and Neil Jarrett, providing yet more variety in an evening, already oozing at the seams with well-known musical favourites.
As if all the above was not enough, two guest spots were filled by The Friends of St Columba’s Choir giving us a splendid example of African choral work and, latterly, introducing a Beatles’ song and finishing with a composition by Coldplay.
An excellent two hours of entertainment which never flagged!
Thank you for the invitation and congratulations to the three members who received long service awards that evening!
