It’s May, so time once more for Cupar AMS’s annual concert of songs taken from the world of musicals, old and new.

This year the programme featured three themed sections, Day and Night, Transformations and, after the interval, Glitz and Glamour. One common factor from all CAMS’ Concerts in previous years, however, was the showcasing of CAMS’ talent, both young and only slightly older. Musicals ranged from the traditional, Oklahoma! and Annie Get Your Gun to newer favourites like Dear Evan Hansen and Wicked and even musicals that are about to be relaunched like Pippin.

The well-rehearsed CAMS chorus gave favourable backing to many of the showstoppers, and, together with the soloists, each of whom did themselves proud, provided a pleasant evening of songs from the shows. One can forgive a few initial nerves at the start of numbers, but these nerves, if any, soon disappeared as the soloists got into their stride. Did I have a favourite number? Well, yes of course I did!  “The Song That Goes Like This” from that crazy musical Spamalot would take a lot of beating, especially the way it was presented tonight by two of CAMS’ stalwarts, Helen Knowles-Venters and Andrew Doig!

Thanking you for inviting me along to your Concert again, and congratulations to the recipients of NODA Long Service Awards which I was privileged to be asked to present to four members – totalling a wonderful 110 years of service between them!

Looking forward to your “Anything Goes” in February next year!

Well done CAMS!
