Sixteen Yorkshire W.I. Ladies in 1999 decided, after the death of one of their member’s husbands, to make a calendar for Leukaemia Research, and so the story commences.

The whole cast in this production worked so well together, with some wonderful singing, dancing, acting and a couple of really good cameo appearances (Charlene Payton and Philomena Valero).  The cast were led by Tina Williams and Debbie Crump who played best friends Annie and Chris.  It was Chris’s idea to make a calendar as it was Annie’s Husband, John (Dave Crump) who had passed away.  This was not an idea that W.I. local leader Marie (Paula Lumsden) wanted to do but the ladies did not want to give in to her and even took the proposal to the national W.I. Conference.

The six ladies who played the W.I. Ladies who made the calendar really worked well as a team.  Joining Tina and Debbie were Naomi O’Borne, Tina Romano, Alison Cahill and Robyn Klein-Christoffels and they could have not worked together any better, a great team.  Together with the members of the society, this production was a joy to watch.  I must mention Fin Waldron who played Danny, Chris’s son, a great performance.  Special mention should also be given to Debbie Crump for her brilliant rendition of the song ‘Sunflower’, how the audience enjoyed it.

The set was ideal for  Highbury’s  stage and the back projection used was ideal, great pictures Dave.  The sound was just right and every word could be heard over the orchestra led by Gladstone Wilson.  The lighting, supplied by Going Dark, was just right.

Director Dave Crump should be very proud of this production and rightly so, after the standing ovation given by the audience.  A collection was made after each performance for the Leukaemia Research and the amount raised was £1975.42.

Many thanks for the invite and congratulations.
