Calendar Girls

Six producers with possibly 6 different ideas must be a challenge but in this case they obviously did work as a team and it was very successful with a nice interpretation of the story. The six girls concerned were Christina Goucher ( Annie), Nic Pelham (Chris),Lauren Greenhalgh (Cora), Jeannie Raspin (Jessie), Laura Barrett (Celia)  and Joanna Thorpe (Ruth). On stage they all gave great individual character performances, all different but all believable and certainly in keeping with the piece. The photograph scene was handled very effectively and was a good example of their teamwork. Nice singing from Lauren throughout the production as well. All the support roles were well cast, fitting well into their roles linking in nicely with the girls. The costumes, or lack of them on occasions, enhanced the setting. The excellent set had nice detail touches, the design worked well and the many props were all appropriate and in keeping. The backstage work, lighting and sound were well handled with the many scene changes running smoothly. All together this was great entertainment and from the reception was very obviously enjoyed by the audience on the opening night.
