~~The Deadwood stage definitely rode in to Birmingham and what a whip crack away night we had.  From start to finish this Stephen Duckham production was full of enthusiasm and fun.  With BMOS celebrating its 130th anniversary this was the ideal show to stage.

Faye O’Leary was a wonderful Calamity Jane.  Great acting and a wonderful voice. She was well suited with Alistair Joliffe was Wild Bill Hickock.  Where did that voice come from?  His rendidition of ‘Higher than a Hawk’ was a joy to listen to.  Another great pairing came from Carys Wilson as Katie Brown and Mark Walsh as Danny Gilmartin.

Francis Fryer (with an I) was played well by Jake Genders.  John Spencer superbly played Henry Miller.  How he kept up all that dithering and panic is beyond me.  Also coming across well and giving great support was Pat Pryce as Rattlesnake.

Musical Director David Easto conducted a good sounding orchestra and Sally Joliffe’s choreography worked really well on this stage.

This was a very enjoyable production with great songs that most of the audience, including me, where singing along to.
