Bugsy Malone

Youth theatre is alive and thriving in Derbyshire South,  and this production by LEOS Youth Group well and truly proves it.  A very good slick, well balanced presentation,  and backed by a talented and most enthusiastic cast,  this musical is a winner.
 
A most impressive performance by Leighton Perry in the title role, in his laid back approach of Bugsy he linked the show together in a most mature and talented way.  I was very impressed with Eleanor Carty as Blousey, and Lilli Woodhouse as Tallulah.  Both parts played with stacks of confidence and poise.  Fat Sam,  played with relish by Josh Jones,  had the audience in stitches with his excellent characterisation,  and what a gravelly voice.  Daniel Jones as Dandy Dan,  and Bella Ridgeway as Fizzy,  completed a very competent principal line up.  The whole company deserve great credit for the enthusiastic and energetic chorus work,   and the ` splodge scenes` comically enhanced the whole scenario.

Great credit to the production team, super set, costumes, and an excellent live band, made for a good night for LEOS Youth Group.
