'Bring it on' is a musical with music by Tom Kitt and Lin-Manuel Miranda with lyrics by Amanda Green and Miranda and book by Jeff Whitty. The musical is loosely based on 2000 of the same name and focuses on the competitive world of cheerleading and over the top team rivalries.
The heroine Campbell (Jessica Harrison) gave an excellent performance totally in command of the role with her dream of becoming head cheerleader of Truman High School. I loved watching Tori-Jayne Parkes as Briget the awkward but lovable school geek you genuinely came to care for her. Suddenly both girls are reassigned to another school in the rougher neighbourhood where the girls hardly know anyone and worse - they don't have a cheerleading squad.
Eboni Green as Danielle was the hard nut cookie at the new school Jackson High and seemed to be totally at ease with her singing .
The four supporting girls parts were played by Jessica Millinchip (Skylar) Abbie Lowe (Klar) Isabella Ferrara (Eva) and Amber Seddon (Nautica). They were well cast.
Will Foggin playing schools DJ at Jackson High, gave a laid back performance working his way from a dorky freshman to a smooth senior to win Campbells heart all topped off with a good singing voice.
Harry Zaffino was suitably cast as Steve Capbell's dumb boyfriend.
A star in the making was the character Twig one of Jackson's students he bounced and swaggered on stage, his hormones were popping making him lust after Briget well done Luca Marandola a character well played.
The supporting male characters William Hanson (La Cienega) and Thomas Rantell (Cameron) were well cast.
The staging flowed perfectly plus good sound and lighting.
A lively show well-done everyone.
