It has been a good while since iv seen this brilliant comedy, so we were really looking forward to attending.
Bernard (Chris Lambeth) was enjoying a complicated romantic relationship with not just one but three air hostess girlfriends, the only way this could ever work would be very clever organisation and the fact that all three worked for different airlines. He was soon to be joined by his visiting friend Robert (Richard Woodfield)who wishfully thinks the same ‘arrangement’ could work for him, let the chaos commence.
The Parisian flat where Bernard resides is run with almost military authority by Bertha (Tina Romano) she vehemently disapproves of the goings on. I liked the feisty almost enraged characterisation Tina bought to the part especially when trying her best to accommodate the different types of food liked by the ladies. American pancake loving Gloria (Ashleigh Poppitt) did well to maintain her credible accentthroughout as did all three. Italian Gabriella (Francesca Rees) and lastly, German Gretchen (Gail Davies). How the three rivals never met each other was a testament to great direction by Chris.
It’s an incredible feat to ensure the correct photographs were on show when the different ladies were at home, Richard and Chris must have spent many hours
rehearsing to get it right, I think there was only one split second moment when the one downstage wasn’t changed, well done! All of the actors appeared word perfect in what was a somewhat frantic laugh out loud play, it must have been hard to keep a straight face at times.
Congratulations and well done to all concerned on such an enjoyable entertaining performance. Thank you once again for the invitation.
