Wartime descended upon Pickering once again this week in the form of the North York Moors Railway Wartime Weekend, and Pickering Musical Society presented their annual “War Show” with popular songs from the era, all fastidiously devised and choreographed by their very devoted Producer, Maureen Symonds.  Utilising all ages of the Society membership, from the youth section, the intermediates and an ever strengthening Adult chorus, the show maintained pace and pride throughout.  With two comedy sections interspersing the musical entertainment, there was something for everyone to enjoy. The “Pantomime” Sketch at the end of Act One, with a cleverly choreographed band of seven dwarfs was particularly entertaining.  Another one of Pickering’s clever touches! All the musical elements flowed well throughout, ably supported by the MD on keyboard and his well-rehearsed band.  Once again, the time and dedication into putting this style of musical revue was not lost on the very appreciative audience.  The final section of songs had the audience joining in and reminiscing.  Well done for another successful performance and I am sure We’ll Meet Again for the 2014 War Show!
