What a pleasure to be able to sit back and enjoy a seasonal favorite, Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, with an hilarious twist – the Blackadder version. Reprising their roles as Blackadder and Baldrick were the enormously funny double act of David Chilvers and Mark Preston, who never failed to amuse. Obviously some of the credit must go to Curtis and Elton but to bring such dialogue alive still requires talent. There was no shortage of this on display as character after character, too many to mention by name, contributed to a stonkingly funny production. Despite this being an obvious Box Office winner designed to generate funds for replacement windows in the theatre there was no stinting on the production values. The set was exceptionally well made with hinged flats moving in and out to create different rooms for different scenes.  The props were good, the costumes were authentic and the lighting, particularly in the scenes set in the future, was spectacular. Particular care had also been taken with the classical music sound tracks that filled the void between scene changes. Technical cues worked well with gunshots and dead squirrels mostly behaving as planned. Overall, this was a very slick production that deservedly played to a full house. Congratulations to all and full credit for raising so much for charity while giving so many people so much enjoyment
