Rugby Theatre performed the very popular and iconic “ Blackadder goes forth”

Blackadder Goes forth is taken from the television series and there is an expectation of wanting to see what you see on screen and Rugby Theatre fulfilled this with very high standard.

The cast is relatively small and features a range of popular characters however stand out performances has to go to: -

John Harrison as Captain Edmund Blackadder made the role his own with nods to the original portrayed by Rowan Atkinson and was an outstanding performances together with Gavin Yeats as Private S Baldrick who’s portrayal was of equal quality and were a fantastic duo and had excellent on stage chemistry together.

Deita Hubbard, John Harrisopn, Chris Allen Mason, Robert Warner, Robert Sloan, Steve Bingham, Tim Sell, Nick Marsh and Ellie Derrick were all simply fantastic from the uptight, the outrageous and serios and everything in-between the onstage chemistry and performances all working seemsley with each other.

The Set and Costumes were perfectly for the era Blackadder was set in.

To make you feel you were a studio audience in-between “Episodes” were done and felt part of the production with a lovely greeting starting the performance.

The use of Projection gave you the opening credits and more poignantly and was used effectively for the final moments of Episode 3 “Goodbyeee”

A excellent performance full of laughs and remembrance.
