~~This was the second play in The Circle Players 80th anniversary season and it was a joy to watch. The set, consisting of three bedrooms was well thought out with effective lighting on each segment. The action takes place in the afore mentioned bedrooms during one night and the following morning, with the cast consisting of four married couples. Delia and Ernest (Anne Troman and John Richardson) are getting ready to go out for a meal. Malcolm and Kate (David Daly and Carol Grice) are about to host a house warming party and Jan is looking after Nick (Jenny Culligan and George Georgiou), but he has hurt his back and is unable to go to the house warming. Susannah and Trevor (Clair Tregellis and Alex Howell) have also been invited to the said party but with the added complication that Jan used to be Trevor’s girlfriend. Ayckbourn’s lengthy opening scene pretends to be quite a different play but as the title states a farce ensues. The eight principals performed well and the audience really enjoyed this production, as did I. Two down and two to go. Well-done Circle players. Keep up the high standard.
