This play by Alan Ayckbourn is always a favourite and how the Sutton Arts audience enjoyed it.  The set was outstanding and safe in the hands of the Sutton Arts set building team. All credit must also go to the lighting team at the theatre.  As the set was spilt into three bedrooms, the lighting needed to be spot on, and it was.  Well done to David and Richard.

The company explores the problems in four marriages.  The more senior couple of Ernest and Delia (Allan Lane and Hazel Evans) go wild by eating fish in bed.  Nick and Jan (Jon Hall and Emma Woodcock) are a bitter couple who have accepted their lot.  Jon had a great role in this play as most of the time he had to spend it on his back in bed.  Not the easiest role to play but he came over really well.  Malcolm & Kate (Dave Douglas and Hellie England) provide the pace of the piece with their bedroom antics and games.  The only couple who don’t have a bedroom set are Susannah and Trevor (Louise Farmer and Jimmy-Joe Corbett) who seem to travel from bedroom to bedroom causing problems wherever they go.

Barrie Atchison’s production was a joy to watch and another hit for Sutton Arts Theatre.
