What always impresses me about The Watson Players is that everything needed for their productions are provided `in house`. Brilliant costumes, exceptional set, props and special extras, all to magnificent effect. This was a most glossy production and all the effort paid off with a classy pantomime.
A sympathetic portrayal of Belle by Helen Perry, with sound vocals, matched by Andrew Buxton with a very intense portrayal as the Beast. They complemented each other in a most effective manner. Wayne Perry as Ma, The Dame, extracted every bit of humour and enjoyed a good repartee with the appreciative audience. Cat Howourth, as Capucine and Ryan Barber as Jacques provided good support, and I particularly liked the scenes involving all the Palace `Furniture`, all playing their parts to great effect.
Completing the most accomplished cast were Yvonne Baird as Felix , a Giant French Poodle, and Regina Repton as Malabelle the Wicked Witch. Yvonne takes all the plaudits for a superb performance, super comic timing, and a good accent which was maintained throughout. Wonderful acting which was matched equally by Regina as a villainous scheming `Baddie` . These two were ideal foils for each other.
Completing the line-up, an enthusiastic chorus and dance troupe made for a most enjoyable panto.
