KAOS Musical Theatre Company-Beauty and the Beast

A family favourite, full of magical moments, a beautiful score and dreamy settings.

Given the limitations of the stage at Kelso, the company rose to the occasion by adapting settings and making creative usage of the given space. I was impressed by the way in which the crew managed the journey thus ensuring the flow of the show.

Powerful performances from all the principals and supported well by the gathered ensemble. Creative, simple but effective choreography complemented the delivery of the book.

Maria Waszyrowska has a beautiful tone of voice delivering some very special ‘Belle’ moments coupled with excellent support from Alan Thomson - The Beast, Harry Robertson - Lumiere and Jennifer Redpath - Mrs Potts.

Meanwhile Alan Walker - Gaston, Struan Henderson - Maurice, Nicky Blkack - Babette, Kate Tynan - Madame Bouche gave great support to the overall plot.

Special mention to Freja Allen - Cogsworth and Jamie Wilson - Lefou for their excellent character interpretations and indeed brilliant comic timing.

Shout out to the younger members of the ensemble and to the two ‘Chips’ for very accomplished performances.

I very much enjoyed the score being delivered by the ‘hidden’ orchestra, not an easy play but very ably delivered.

Look forward to next year’s production from this very talented company.
