Beauty and the Beast

 DELIGHTFUL!

The house was full at the Avenue Theatre on Thursday night, and so it should be for this delightful company of young people. I would say mostly mums, dads, grans grandads, aunts, uncles and brothers and sisters to witness this youth production of ‘Beauty and the Beast’. 

Lisa Thornton and Tamsyn Eureaux, your direction and choreography were simply wonderful. Every young person had something to perform, from the oldest to the youngest truly masterful, all praise to you both and your cast and stage crew (in the capable hands of Mathew Tullett’s stage management.) I can imagine it was a nightmare backstage with a cast of thirty. I have worked the Avenue theatre with ten people and that was bad enough let alone thirty, but you did it, and the show ran very smoothly. 

Moving on to the cast, and what a cast it was! Lisa and Tamsyn you choose wisely, from the Beast to Chip all were word perfect and could sing if need be, with thirty in the cast it would be unfair of me to single anyone out, as you all gave us your talent with a smile, even if you had to put up with being inside a tea cup, ‘Chip’. The camaraderie between all of you was immense. I am always amazed at the amount of young talent that we have today, and Avenue Productions you took this ‘Beauty’ and gave it your best, please keep doing this as you are the future, whether in acting or dance you shone throughout!! Enjoy your remaining performances you all made this Beauty a Delightful ‘Beauty and the Beast’. Oh, one thing that made me chuckle Lumiere be careful of the candles, when your floppy hair gets in your eyes, don’t brush it back, because if they were real you would go up in flames. Ha ha ha.
