The song says ‘Be Our Guest’ and we were certainly delighted to be invited to this performance of style and charm. This well-known story and musical was given the RYS treatment and shone.

The principals were all outstanding, handling the music with confidence and with very strong performances which brought a tear to my and many other’s eyes. Excellent portrayal of Belle by Neive Knox and Beast by Andrew Taylor. The comic duo of Gaston and Lefou were in the capable hands of Cameron Watson and Rory Stevenson, who made these parts their own. Next we have the castle inhabitants, a sweet Mrs Potts (Abby McLean), a classy Lumiere (Maisie Houston), a masterful Cogsworth (Oscar O'Brien), a flouncy Babette (Aimee Cummings), a delightful Madame De La Grande Bouche (Ruby Richardson), a charming Maurice (James Taylor) and finally Chip who stole our hearts played by Poppy Low and Esther Easson.

This line up was completed by a Narrator, Prince, and Les Filles De La Ville well done to Max, Hayden, Clara, Brook, Bella, Lexie, Anna and Rebecca. The smaller roles were well distributed and I was impressed that so many of this large company were given their moment in the spotlight. The ensemble played their hearts out and their enjoyment cascaded into the audience completing this perfect picture. A special mention to the way all the cast embraced the costumes, handling the complicated ones with ease.

The direction, dhoreography and dinging were suited to this young group ensuring all were involved and valued. The production team deserve to be congratulated for their hard work and dedication but I know they will be enjoying and rewarded by the’ Youngstars’ success.

Despite the limited space the set, props and costumes were expertly managed by the back stage helpers with slick set and costume changes. Lighting and sound completed the package.

As always the front of house helpers worked hard to ensure the smooth running of the show. I always enjoy coming to see ‘Rising Youngstars’ and  am delighted that this group is going from strength to strength providing such great opportunities for young people to discover the delights of performing in theatre. Onwards and upwards!
