I love watching youth showcases and seeing performers develop over the years. Mossley are the best academy with weekly singing, dancing and acting classes and it pays off when they put on a show such as this with cast choosing numbers, taking on choreographing and trusting their tutors with some difficult song choices.

The opening Music of Michael Jackson medley made a great start to the show and although there were a few nerves the routine was very slick.

Think of me by Erin Heywood sounded lovely and Newsies the Musical was extremely enjoyable. When you believe by Niamh Livingstone was performed well and was a nice contrast to the earlier numbers. I loved the Fosse routine to I wanna be a Dancin Man which looked great.

The I love you song from The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee was absolutely fabulous with stunning vocals from Ellie Birtles, Sophie Thompson and  Rhys Nuttall.

School Song from Matilda looked and sounded great and I absolutely loved Too Darn Hot fronted well by Jake Hankey from one of my favourite musicals.

Katherine Farrow absolutely nailed Your Daddy’s Son from Ragtime  and my only comment was WOW. The Godspell medley ended the first half and was tremendous with some stunning harmonies.

Act 2 opened with Two Worlds from Tarzan with the leads sung by Gary Jones  McCaw and Rhys Nuttall. The two voices blended well and the company voices added depth to the vocals. Rhys then performed solo on Till I Hear You Sing which really suited his voice and sounded fabulous.

Joyful, Joyful had great voices and wonderful movement and Strangers Like Me by Thomas Davison and Abi Parkin was a great version.

Broadway Here I Come from Smash fronted by Molly-Mae France, Jake Hankey. Georgia Moth and Thomas Davison sounded great with some complicated harmonies and was also choreographed by Thomas who made a very good job of this number.

Poor Child from The Wild Party had wonderful 4 piece harmonies from Rhys Nuttall. Mary Platts, Katherine Farrow and Josh Hankey while Sophie Thompson and Georgia Moth performed beautifully on Let Me Be Your Star.

The routine to Let’s Hear It for The Boy was full of energy but this did not compromise the vocals especially Mary Platts who fronted the number.

Megan McKinley and Niamh Livingstone sounded brilliant on My Own Best Friend from Chicago and the finale of numbers from Priscilla. Queen of the Desert was tremendous and a brilliant way to end the show.

Overall the performances were great and it is wonderful to see the growth of each of these young performers. There was so much talent in the room and each of the performers looked like they were enjoying themselves which makes all the difference to the audience.

Thank you all so much for a fantastic evenings entertainment and see you all soon.
