Struggling composer Peter Woodgate is trying to get his big break on the West End.  Short on ideas and money, he is supported emotionally by his fiancée Helen, financially by his sister Holly and creatively by his ham actor friend Barnaby.  With these relationships strained, Peter finds himself drawn to up and coming singer Emily.

So this synopsis introduces a brand new show to the stage ‘Badger’, which had some beautiful songs, funny dialogue and some wonderful characterisations

Peter, played by Benjamin Wellicome was hardly off stage and I am really unsure how he learnt his lines and songs.  A great performance!  He had great support from Philippa Cruxton who played Helen Poplar and Miriam Ridgway as Emily Oldbury who had such a lovely voice.  Her singing just stood out.  Comedy came from Matthew Jones as Barnaby Hawtrey; this character knew everyone in show business.  Peter’s friend which visited him in his dreams was Badger who performed well and gave a good solid performance.  The remainder of the company gave good support and ensured a first class performance.  The singing was first class with my favourite songs being ‘Badger Bolero’ and ‘Mississippi Melody.

Performed on an open stage with no scenery and just a few props, Ethan’s script was fun with just a tinge of sadness.

Thank you so much for the invite and I look forward to seeing you all again soon.
