From WLOS -  Andrea Colton has had a passion for Musical Theatre for a very long time. She spent many years involved in both performing and working behind the scenes (for both WLOS and other groups). 10 years ago, she ventured into the world of directing and has successfully directed all WLOS musicals, various concerts, and fundraising events, since. With her vision and creativity, alongside talented production teams and casts, Andrea has produced some amazing pieces of work that have allowed the people of Worksop and surrounding areas to get a real musical theatre experience, right on their doorstep. Some of the more recent productions include ‘South Pacific’ (2019), ‘White Christmas’ (2018), ‘The Wizard of Oz’ (2018), ‘Annie’ (2017), and ‘The King and I’ (2016).

As Chairman, Andrea also plays a huge part in keeping the WLOS community together. She understands that WLOS has a big impact on it’s members’ mental health and is often arranging events or social gatherings. Through lockdown, she arranged online workshops and script reading sessions to keep people connected.

Andrea has not only been working hard, preparing for Back in Lights but also for ‘Made in Dagenham’ which will be performed at the Acorn Theatre in May 2022. She is currently getting the information evenings prepared and organising the audition material, ready for people who would like to be a part of the show and the WLOS community. Please do drop us a message if you are interested in taking part.

Singing is proven to be good for your health. It can lower stress, can boost immunity and lung function, it can enhance your memory, it can improve mental health, and can help you cope with physical and mental pain. Imagine what it is like just to STOP singing?

After over a year apart, WLOS have missed singing and performing beyond words, and this has affected them all in many different ways.  But today, to celebrate what should have been our last day of 'show week', and to celebrate that things are slowly returning to normal, we have put together something very special for our audiences.
