The Annual Pantomime at this pleasant and comfortable Little Theatre, which belongs to the Society, was an entertaining and very enthusiastic show. The set had some excellent and artistic back cloths, the lighting and sound for the recorded musical numbers were good and added to the performance. There were some very good costumes, some hired from the York Theatre Royal but most made by the members of the society. Each character was well drawn from the swashbuckling Robin Hood (Sally Smith) and his Merry Men (John Pearce, Ian Driffield, Sarah Threlfall, Doreen Driffield and Jameelah Freeston) to the comedy in the safe hands of the Dame (Colin Smith) and of Noelle McCreath, Beth Metcalfe and Janet Darwin. The Sheriff of Nottingham (James Galloway) with his Guard (Jill Kay) tried his hardest to get his hands on the Babes (Chris Wollacott and Emily Kay) and Maid Marian (Marie Chapman). The dippy Forest Fairy (Brenda Anderson) and the group of young dancers added to the enjoyment of all the children in the audience. A fun performance.
