This show was a very clever concept by WADAMS. The audience were treated to a world tour of musicals on board a Boeing 747, landing at appropriate destinations where particular shows are set, whilst sitting in the Carnegie theatre. We even had the pre flight safety briefing and the programmes were in the form of passports.

The show moved along at a good place as we visited countries, which included the USA, Germany, France, Australia and Vietnam and we had songs from shows set in these exotic locations. Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Cabaret, Les Miserables, Miss Saigon, and many more.

All the membership of the society took part, the Seniors and the Next Generation, produced some stunning ensembles from smash hit musicals. There were some lovely performances, namely Kim Fisher singing ‘ Someone to watch over me’, from ‘ Crazy for You’ and two lovely duets from ‘Miss Saigon’, performed by Claire McLouglin and Michael Hogarth.  The kids were very good too, I particularly enjoyed their ‘Joseph’ megamix. One small criticism would be that some of the numbers were over choreographed, and in my opinion could have been acted, as in their particular show, rather than danced and I use ‘ Perfect Young Ladies’ from ‘The Boyfriend’, as an example.

The band along with the company, worked very hard to get through snatches from twenty shows, as we were taken on this whistle stop tour. Accessorised costumes worked very well, lighting and sound were very effective. All in all a very enjoyable world tour of Musicals by a very enthusiastic society.
