These youngsters of INOV8 Dance put on a wonderful display.  A team of new and experienced dancers showed off their talents and captured and retained the audience’s attention for the entire evening.  We were treated to a lively beginning with the whole troupe full of life in Jet Set, ready to take us around the world - which they did with dances interpreting the cultures of India, China, France Germany and the Alps.  Each group reflected the culture and movements of the countries with the grace of Bollywood, the energy of Kung Fu Fighting, the gypsies from Romania, the pace of the Can Can and the poignancy of the Avalanche of Mt Everest. In between were soloist dancers: Samantha Niven brought to life the Spanish Rumba; Lisa Muir and Abbie Hutchison impressed with their acrobatics; Louise Brown interpreted Reflections with feeling; and Louise Freck in Leaving Berlin expressed its sense of loss. Appetite was whetted for the second half and it did not disappoint. It opened with two excerpts from ‘Bugsy Malone’ and then took us over the American continent and then back to the British Isles: cold and ice in the Arctic Frost, lively Indians in the Tribal Council, slinky and smooth in Las Vegas Stars, an explosive Pirates of the Caribbean before re-crossing the pond to a visually effective and well executed River Dance. Soloist Lisa Muir movingly interpreted America Gone. The evening rounded off with Together as One and Scotland is Home. The musical choice was unusual but apt and allowed the dancers to show what they could do. Costuming was well thought out, with smart red and black combinations and additional headwear and skirts to reflect times and places. This was a well-planned, well- choreographed show with the young dancers trained in their movement, concentration and expression. That energy! Those splits!  Well done all round.
