Such a joyful production. Broad-Way Players embrace everyone and have such diversity in their members, that the whole ethos of inclusivity jumps off the stage and engages the audience. You could see the closeness of the ensemble, a true community production.

The production centred on the cast whisking the audience away and became a journey of adventure. The music was interesting, in that there were modern songs, songs from
musicals both old and new, in different and surprising settings, all of which the ensemble sang with gusto – their enthusiasm translating into audience enjoyment.
Spacing was good throughout, with imaginative settings and choreography, that everyone took on board and performed to the utmost of their ability. It was remarked upon by
several audience members, that everyone got their chance to be out front, whether with a solo or in ensemble numbers.

The entire cast of Alice Sheppard, Ashley Gooch, Connor-Lee Barwick, Hayley Rickett, Ian Gooch, Jackie Hensley, Jamie Culham, Jane Porter, Michelle Gallagher, Oliver Dunn, Sarah Meers, Scott Newman, Susan Hardy and Terry Chitty took on the challenges and delivered. One of the highlights was the seagull, fantastic portrayal and song, unexpected but hilarious. I was also impressed with a very well-drilled cow, movements all in sync, such fun.

There was comedy and poignancy, all emotions addressed and some unusual settings for some well-known music. My congratulations to the Production Team, they come up with different and interesting settings and ideas for each show, I don’t know how they do it! It was good to see the improvement in the cast overall, but I was particularly thrilled to see how well Terry Chitty coped with his solo, his ready smile and enthusiasm were infectious.

Sound and lighting were good throughout, and I liked the moveable banner depicting the various scenes, even the scene changes were slick and well-drilled. Our thanks to Broad-Way Players for their hospitality, it was also good to catch up with other NODA members on the evening. Very well done to all concerned.
