Once again CATS gave a super performance of the musical `Anything Goes`. There were a few times when the orchestra was a little too loud but overall was well directed by David Wilson. The sets and lighting were well thought out. All the principals were well cast and it was obvious they enjoyed the show. Joseph Foster was brilliant as Billy Crocker. His singing and dancing were of the highest quality, and he could tapdance. His performance was the best that I have seen for quite a long time.
The show tells the story of the Harcourt family who are on board a ship sailing from America bound for England and the wedding of daughter Hope to Sir Evelyn. Hope was beautifully played by Ella Pollitt, Arthur Roadnight was a great Sir Evelyn Oakleigh, both under the watchful eye of mother well played by Louise Gafney.
On board was the entertainer Reno Sweeney competently played by Laura Findley. She was well supported by her Angels, Chastity (Lucy White), Purity (Holly Meadows), Virtue (Catie Birch) and Charity (Ella Smith).
Of course there has to be a `baddy`, no less than Moonface Martin and his girlfriend Bonnie. A super performance by Elliot Hogben and Em Cohen. Together with all other smaller parts and chorus we were given such a happy show. Every number was so well performed. I especially enjoyed `All through The night`,I Get a kick out of You` , as well as `Friendship` and `Blow, Gabriel, Blow`. The scene with all the cast `Anything Goes` was so well done.
Thank you for a great nights entertainment. I look forward to your next show.
